The 25 Worst Tech Products of All Time

I’ll have to agree with the top two, for sure.

Where’s Microsoft’s Clippy and the stupid-butt “Rover” Windows Search Companion that *still* persist to this day?

I really want to put all of the retail versions of Symantec Antivirus on the list. It was never the same after Peter Norton sold out to Symantec in 1990.

Oh and what about those Microsoft keyboards that have the Insert, Delete, Home, End, Page Up and Page Down keys reconfigured. Oooh, I hate that.

Jordan, wife end their 17-year marriage

Guess Jordan and his wife are calling it quits. On reconciliation, it:

would be impractical and not in the best interests of the family

Riiight.

What about the best interests of: Jeffrey, 18, Marcus, 16, and Jasmine, 14?

AI scores 44, 10 dimes

Allen Iverson just happens to score 44 on the Sonics.

Whoop-de-doo.

The Sonics were without their top two scorers. Tell you what…I’d hate to be Earl Boykins (who’s having a career year so far) when Carmelo Anthony gets back from his suspension. There’s not going to be enough looks to go around with those two me-first ball-hogs on the court at the same time. The AI experiment really starts when Melo gets back.

AT:How to Think About the War

This is an excellent big-picture article about the War on Terror. You should read the whole thing. (Meyer definitely hooked me in at the beginning with the Operating System comparison.)

One question I do have is this: Is there such a thing as a peaceful Muslim as opposed to a “radical” one? Where are they?

Do you agree or disagree with his premise? Why?

What a great game!

dsc00992_sm.jpg
Wow. The Bucks vs T’Wolves game last night at the Target Center was awesome. Our seats were pretty good. The game was great — down to the wire at the end.

One cool thing I realized…there are other Bucks fans in the world. I saw at least 4 of them at the game. It was weird being in the minority and having the visiting team win. Sweet. Bango took his rightful place in the back window of the car on the way home.

We took over 100 pictures at the game. I’ll post some of them somewhere.

"He made a bad situation worse. He’s a jerk for what he’s trying to do."

I agree with George Karl. Here’s more. Isiah Thomas is a worm and is never going to succeed as a coach or a GM.

Thomas ordered the mugging?

Interesting tidbit in this article by Mitch Lawrence:

The league will factor in Thomas’ warning to Anthony in the final minutes before the brawl. Already on the hot seat because of his record as the team’s GM, Thomas himself faces a suspension and/or fine if he in fact ordered Collins to take down Smith. But that merely would overshadow his team’s horrific home record.

Catalog of Lego Sets

This is a pretty cool site. I still have some of them from back in the early 80’s. This is one was the one I saved up over $50 for and ordered directly from Lego in 1985. Still have the original receipt.

This kinda thing will be the undoing of the NBA

nba.jpgIf you haven’t seen the brawl between the Nuggets and Knicks, here’s the link.

First off, I’ll hold off about Isiah Thomas. You know what I think about him and his skills as a GM and coach.

This kind of crap by NBA players will be the end of the NBA. Kick all the thugs out. I want to see some skill — some good jump shots, some more stars with 90%+ free throw percentage, some sweet moves night and night out. Mugging guys going to the basket is not skill. I hope they suspend Carmelo “sucker punch” Anthony for the rest of the year — ala Ron Artest. Kick out Mardy Collins, too. Who’s he again?

Anyone want a ball-hogging superstar?

allen_iverson_lego.jpg
Anyone interested in a ball-hogging, egocentric, gangster, locker room cancer, all-star? Seriously…Can you see Iverson ever coming off the bench?

What a load of Britney Spears

» Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad:

Iran is your home and is the home of all freedom seekers of the world. Here you can express your views and exchange opinions in a friendly, brotherly and free atmosphere.

Riiiight. Again, unless you are Jewish, Christian or non-Muslim.

My Wife the Weather Blooger, continued

actionweatherblog.jpg
My wife likes to read the weather blogs of a couple of the local TV stations (she’s a closet storm chaser). I mentioned back in October that she posted on the KSHB weather blog. Well, KSHB threw out the idea of hosting all of the regular weather bloggers for a tour at the station. Rachel e-mailed in and said she’d be interested in attending.

She got an invitation from Mr. Lezak himself last night.

She gets to bring a guest. She picked me.

Amazing, I know.

I’ll try to get a picture of me and the $250k weather computer.

Help me out. What should I wear?

Rotten fruit soap

OK. I just can’t stand it anymore. The don’t like new soap dispensers they put in the bathrooms where I work. They’re the new foam type. The soap smells like rotten fruit/dead flowers/something. Eck.

Joke

Okay, there is this piece of butter, okay. And he thinks, “I’m not doing very well in life so I really want to start making ends meet and progressing.”

So he jumps onto half a slice of bread and he thinks, “Oh yeah, this is quite good, this half a slice of bread. But I still think I could do better in life.”

So he jumps onto a full slice of bread. “This is amazing,” he thinks. “I’m really living the high life.” But he thinks, “I could still go further.”

So he jumps onto a slice of toast and, “This is a very, very comfortable slice of toast.” It’s just like absolute luxury. But he thinks, “I could still go further in life,” so he jumps onto the next thing.

And by now he’s thinking, “Okay, I’ve lived a very good life, I think it’s about time I wrapped everything up,” and he starts to walk away, but his friend calls out, “Oh no, don’t stop now. Youre on a roll.”

Classic.

Senihcam, Inc. Website Redesign launched

I’ve finally finished the Senihcam, Inc. website redesign. Here’s the design progression since 2002. Still planning on implementing some videos in the showroom. For those interested, the slideshow flash element is a customized version of SlideShowPro.

Tom Chi & Me

An entry I posted on my blog back on 11/16 apparently caught the eye of Tom Chi, Product Lead for Yahoo!’s MyWeb (and Bookmarks Beta apparently).

In my I’m addicted to Google Reader and miffed about Yahoo Bookmarks Beta post I expressed my frustration with there not being a My Yahoo module for the new Yahoo Bookmarks beta. One day I signed in and it just didn’t work anymore. Tom posted this comment on that particular post:

Sorry about the MyYahoo bookmarks module problems; we have a couple moving parts and they’ll be sorted in the near future. If you don’t want to wait, we have a potential workaround if you contact me.

Anyway, I did and we exchanged several e-mails. He provided a custom RSS feed for me to add my beta bookmarks back to My Yahoo. Pretty sweet.

The James Kim Tragedy

james-kim-path01s.jpg
This is a really sad story — the wilderness death of James Kim, a CNET Editor. Here’s a satellite map of his path. Maybe this is just the Eagle Scout in me, but he should have never left his car. Body heat, melted snow for drinking — maybe they all could have survived. Really sad.

More on Google Reader

I continue to be impressed with Google Reader. Here’s a shot of the feeds I’m subscribed to.

I finally found a linklog of the Digg/All feed that’ll take me directly to the target Digg link. The extra clicks got annoying.

Here’s my top 5 favorite feeds:

  1. Lifehacker — all kinds of practical tips and software.
  2. MAKE:Blog - a blog of people that make stuff out of everything imaginable.
  3. dZone.com - all kinds of links for developers
  4. NewsBusters.org - exposing liberal bias in the mainstream media
  5. Ars Technica - a great source for technology news — “serving the PC enthusiast for the last 6 x 10-2 centuries”
  6. digg/all - one of the Web’s biggest popularity contests

Anyone have any favorite RSS feeds they’d like to share?
