Don’t know if you caught any of The Weather Channel “expert” Heidi Cullen’s comments about how decertifying meteorologists who don’t believe in global warming. She said:
If a meteorologist has an AMS Seal of Approval, which is used to confer legitimacy to TV meteorologists, then meteorologists have a responsibility to truly educate themselves on the science of global warming. [...] If a meteorologist can’t speak to the fundamental science of climate change, then maybe the AMS shouldn’t give them a Seal of Approval.
Well, here’s a good rebuttal from a respected weatherman in AL. Here’s a excerpt:
I have been in operational meteorology since 1978, and I know dozens and dozens of broadcast meteorologists all over the country. Our big job: look at a large volume of raw data and come up with a public weather forecast for the next seven days. I do not know of a single TV meteorologist who buys into the man-made global warming hype. I know there must be a few out there, but I can’t find them.
Good stuff. It was interesting to see a show of hands at the KSHB Weather Bloggers meeting how many people believed in “global warming.” Surprisingly few out the group of 100.
If people really wanted to know the cause of global warming, they should have just asked me. It’s Al Gore. Duh.
