More Google Tricks

Here’s another nice write-up on some more Google searching tricks.

I can’t get enough tips to help me hack through superfluous search results.

All in a Good Cause by Orson Scott Card

hockey_stick1.jpg

This pretty much sums it up for me — my disgust for the Global Warming Hysteria that grips us by the neck at every turn.

Wow, this is a really good article. It’s long, but it’s worth the 10 minutes it’ll take you to read it.

Here’s some more on the lifetime Democrat, Orson Scott Card.

Yi-Haw!

Looks like Yi is going to play for the Bucks after all.

Smart move.  He better be as big-time as his peeps think he is.

Donaghy is in soo much trouble

This is just the beginning….

Case in point: 3 big questions

Here’s some of Donaghy’s stats:

Home Team Against the Spread: 30-41-3
He was in the bottom 13.3 % of all refs in this category, road teams had to love him, it was all about the spread. Scary thing is that 7 refs were worse, including Eddie Rush.

Over/Under
He was in the top 5% of all refs in the category (43-29 O/U). Jim Clark & Olandis pool were the only worse. 65% of the time the over was the way to go when he was officiating.

Compare to his stats from 2005-206
Home Team Against the Spread: The improbably perfect 32-32-2
Over/Under 36-30 in favor of the over.

In 2004-2005:
Home team ATS: 35-26-4
Over/Under in 2004-2005 was 29-35

In 2003-2004:
Home team ATS: 35-35-0
Over/Under: 30-39

How about this for referee Tim Donaghy and his crew during the 2006-2007 season (according to Stats LLC):

Technical fouls called - 1st
Personal fouls called - 4th
Free throws ordered - 3rd
Fouling out players - 2nd

In 68 games Donaghy officiated during the 2006-2007 season, 34 players fouled out - meaning the player was called for six fouls and forced to exit the game. The league average is 37 foul-outs per 100 games.

Donaghy averaged 2.6 technical foul calls a game - with 177 total called in games he worked, 20 more than the No. 2 ref, Ken Mauer

Dumb:24 Going Carbon Neutral

050214-koolaid.jpg

Apparently the creators of 24 have been drinking Al Gore’s Kool-Aid.

This is not a good sign for the future of the show.  It’s not going to be long before this junk is going to make it into the storyline.

Way to alienate a rather large conservative fan base, guys!

(Lots of good discussion going on a NewsBusters.com…)

NBA Draft Caricatures

This is a pretty cool idea, I think…

Except he forgot all of Yi’s peeps.

NBA Refs betting on games?

This could be bad.

I don’t expect Mark Cuban to be rubbing his hands together with a wry grin.   Well….maybe.

Georges Sada on The Daily Show

I wonder if Jon Stewart actually read Georges Sada’s book?

Too bad the interview wasn’t long enough or serious enough.

Milwaukyi and the Bradlyi Center

Haha.

Nice, humorous article here by Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel columnist Jim Stingl.

I echo the sentiments of the Chinese basketball fan cited in the article:

…most Chinese fans want him to cut the crap and join the Bucks now.

Does Yi want to play in the NBA?

photo_xyi_with_peeps.jpg

I want to hear an interview with Yi Jianlian himself.

I want to hear it come out of his own mouth that he would rather go back and play in China than play for the Bucks in Milwaukee.

I don’t buy all the talk from the China coaches, his “handlers” or his agent, Dan Fegan.

Good pun today

People can’t seem to agree on Global Warming because it’s a polar icing issue.

MySpace still tops Facebook

That may be true, but MySpace is a free-for-all jumble of annoying noises and pages that make me want to gouge out my eyes.  Facebook, on the other hand, is built on clean and polished function.  I’ll take that any day.

Hidden Google Labels

gmail_logo21.jpg

I’m up to 240 MB of e-mails stored in my Gmail account.    I’m feeling the urge to clean stuff out.  There’s no sense in keeping my eBay “You’ve been outbid” e-mails, you know?

I posted earlier about some Google filter tricks.  Well, here’s a nice write-up from last year on some hidden labels that you can use.

“Label:sent has:attachment” has been particularly helpful.

Hehe.

Sheehan vs Pelosi

sheehan_pelosi.jpg

Ahhh, battle of the nit-wits.

The fact that Sheehan is running against a liberal Democrat such as Pelosi shows me the people that are propping up Sheehan are reeally out there.

I never thought I would say it, but Sheehan’s a welcome distraction. Hehe.

Why I question the Mainstream Media

target.jpg

I’ve been reading Michael Yon’s blog quite a bit lately. It’s a lot to read, but it’s very interesting, IMO.

This particular post, titled “Second Chances,” recounts the Al Qaeda massacre in Baqubah. He mentions stringers for the news agencies and how they gather verifiable information about events in the field.

You’ll have to read it for yourself.

Live Earth:Follow the money, people

captsgesfd67290607160525photo00photodefault-512×360.jpg

Hmmm… Let’s organize huge concerts all over the world where artists and their drones jet in from all over the world to raise money to save the environment — all in typical, self-promoting, Hollywood style. Makes perfect sense.

222,623.63 miles travelled in route to events by stars (apologies for the disgusting pic of the 49 year-old Madonna)

Money raised at Live Earth events goes to a nonprofit (Alliance for Climate Protection), which is (of course) chaired by Al Gore.

Still think Al Gore isn’t running for office or at least going to throw his support behind some candidate? While all of the Mainstream Media is giving it airtime, Gore’s political machine is getting a huge cash infusion.

How different is he than Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, who find a cause and then find a camera?

I just don’t believe Al Gore’s altruistic persona.

Class Act

capte02d90b389db4f04811aeb933ae0f214celtics_allen_basketball_maah105.jpg

The Celtics just got a whole lot better with this model of NBA skill and class.  Though I would like to have seen Ray’s sweet “J” at the Sprint Center with the Sonics, I’m starting to be OK with this.

I hope the Durant and Green are busts, while Ray leads the league in 3’s and FT%.  I can already start to hear the sweet music of of a 1-2 Allen and Pierce punch on the court.

Liberal bias makes me Sicko

Have you heard about Google blogger, Lauren Turner, who wrote this article and was forced by Google to “clarify” it?

I thought she made some valid points — points that seem to guide readers toward Google’s products.

What if Sicko (sorry, it doesn’t deserve a link) really is a distorted piece of propaganda by some do-as-i-say-not-as-i-do fat blob?

What’s the point of having corporate bloggers if you’re going wuss out under a little pressure?

Scott Adams weighs in on Global Warming

hehe.

dilbert2007070149631b.jpg

Pointy Haired Boss: Wally, did you complete the benchmark tests?

Wally: No.

Pointy Haired Boss: Because?

Wally: Global Warming.

Pointy Haired Boss: What?

Wally: Well, normally this would have been a pleasant week, but thanks to you and your stupid SUV, it was too hot to work. Remember, if you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.

Pointy Haired Boss: You work indoors.

Wally: Said the polluter.
