Newt:3 Ways to Lower Gas Prices

Blaming Al Gore for High Gas Prices

Very nice article here by the founder of The Weather Channel, John Coleman.

…the entire Global Warming frenzy is based on the environmentalist’s attack on fossil fuels, particularly gasoline. All this big time science, international meetings, thick research papers, dire threats for the future; all of it, comes down to their claim that the carbon dioxide in the exhaust from your car and in the smoke stacks from our power plants is destroying the climate of planet Earth. What an amazing fraud; what a scam.

Wait, there’s more:

So now it has come down to an intense campaign, orchestrated by environmentalists claiming that the burning of fossil fuels dooms the planet to run-away global warming. Ladies and Gentlemen, that is a myth.

And then there’s the growing number of skeptics:

On May 20th, a list of the names of over thirty-one thousand scientists who refute global warming was released. Thirty-one thousand of which 9,000 are Ph.ds. Think about that. Thirty-one thousand. That dwarfs the supposed 2,500 scientists on the UN panel. In the past year, five hundred of scientists have issued public statements challenging global warming.

Enter the ethanol food crisis:

So now the shortage they created has sent gasoline prices soaring. And, it has lead to the folly of ethanol, which is also partly behind the fuel price increases; that and our restricted oil policy. The ethanol folly is also creating a food crisis throughput the world – it is behind the food price rises for all the grains, for cereals, bread, everything that relies on corn or soy or wheat, including animals that are fed corn, most processed foods that use corn oil or soybean oil or corn syrup. Food shortages or high costs have led to food riots in some third world countries and made the cost of eating out or at home budget busting for many.

Well said, Mr. Coleman, well said.

Al Gore blames Myanmar cyclone on Global Warming

Yeah, that’s right. Al Gore is now blaming the Myanmar cyclone on Global Warming.

And last year a catastrophic storm from last fall hit Bangladesh. The year before, the strongest cyclone in more than 50 years hit China – and we’re seeing consequences that scientists have long predicted might be associated with continued global warming.

Um…OK, Mr. Gore.

Let’s not forget the real cause of Global Warming:

Ethanol is not the answer

How long is it going to take before everyone sees Ethanol isn’t the answer to our dependence on fossil fuels?

Those that are cramming “going green” down are throats are wrong about Ethanol as a renewable resource.

You didn’t need me to tell you that.  We’re feeling it aren’t we?

We’re creating fuel at the expense of our food supply.

Dvorak:Turn off the lights

[dvorak]Really good article here by lightning-rod tech columnist John Dvorak.

What bothers me most about the green movement is the arrogance—the greener-than-thou attitude—of many participants. Combine these people with the dummies who just go along with the flock regarding what is best for mankind—er, personkind—and you have a dunce brigade telling everyone what to do.

The green scene is as good a hobby as a Barnes & Noble book club, but little of it is well directed or realistic. There seems to be a lot of posturing, clichés, pontification, hot air, and out-and-out BS. Welcome to 2008, the Year of the Green. Meanwhile, turn off your lights and computers!

My thoughts exactly.

Biofuels Produce More Greenhouse Gases Than Oil and Gasoline

That’s right, peeps:  Biofuels produce more greenhouse gases than oil and gasoline.

Ethanol, your pocketbook and the environment

[corn is good for you, wink, wink]

Bought milk at the grocery store lately? That sticker shock feeling your have is a direct result of our country’s euphoria about Ethanol.

Oh, and is increased Ethanol production helping combat Global Warming? Uh, probably not.

Case in point: this editorial in the NY Times.

Al Gore’s Zero Emissions Makes Zero Sense

al-gore-tipper-gore-kiss.jpg
Pretty good article here.

Surely what’s missing from the Global Warming Movement is common sense.

(The picture is just to drive home the point.)

Walking is worse for the environment than driving

cow-fire.jpg

I guess I should drive more and become a vegetarian.

Will someone please tell me how all of the carbon-neutral bunk is different than the myriad of studies that come out every year that say chocolate is bad for you or chocolate is good for you? Same for coffee…and wine.

All in a Good Cause by Orson Scott Card

hockey_stick1.jpg

This pretty much sums it up for me — my disgust for the Global Warming Hysteria that grips us by the neck at every turn.

Wow, this is a really good article. It’s long, but it’s worth the 10 minutes it’ll take you to read it.

Here’s some more on the lifetime Democrat, Orson Scott Card.

Dumb:24 Going Carbon Neutral

050214-koolaid.jpg

Apparently the creators of 24 have been drinking Al Gore’s Kool-Aid.

This is not a good sign for the future of the show.  It’s not going to be long before this junk is going to make it into the storyline.

Way to alienate a rather large conservative fan base, guys!

(Lots of good discussion going on a NewsBusters.com…)

Live Earth:Follow the money, people

captsgesfd67290607160525photo00photodefault-512×360.jpg

Hmmm… Let’s organize huge concerts all over the world where artists and their drones jet in from all over the world to raise money to save the environment — all in typical, self-promoting, Hollywood style. Makes perfect sense.

222,623.63 miles travelled in route to events by stars (apologies for the disgusting pic of the 49 year-old Madonna)

Money raised at Live Earth events goes to a nonprofit (Alliance for Climate Protection), which is (of course) chaired by Al Gore.

Still think Al Gore isn’t running for office or at least going to throw his support behind some candidate? While all of the Mainstream Media is giving it airtime, Gore’s political machine is getting a huge cash infusion.

How different is he than Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, who find a cause and then find a camera?

I just don’t believe Al Gore’s altruistic persona.

Pointy Haired Boss: Wally, did you complete the benchmark tests?

Wally: No.

Pointy Haired Boss: Because?

Wally: Global Warming.

Pointy Haired Boss: What?

Wally: Well, normally this would have been a pleasant week, but thanks to you and your stupid SUV, it was too hot to work. Remember, if you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.

Pointy Haired Boss: You work indoors.

Wally: Said the polluter.

The effects of ethanol demand

ethanol.gif

Ethanol is touted as the next big thing — the big alternative to fossil fuels. Few are talking about the economic impact of refining corn into ethanol.

Here’s a good article that explains some of those effects.

You can thank the ethanol craze for:

  • higher milk prices of late
  • higher prices for goods that contain corn syrup (which is just about everything sweet)
  • higher meat prices

The government subsidies will keep ethanol available for a while, but the supposed lower prices at the pump will just be an illusion. Lots of other goods will be more expensive.

Not only that, but according to the Iowa Dept of Agriculture and Land Stewardship:

Ethanol has less energy content than gasoline. However, E85 also has a much higher octane (ranging from 100 to 105) than gasoline. FFVs are not optimized to E85, so they experience a 5% to 15% drop in fuel economy. This will vary based on temperature and driving conditions.

How long will it be for normal Americans (like you and me) to get E85 optimized cars?

Another climatologist takes a realistic look at Global Warming

Here’s another climatologist that’s not buying into the hysteria about Global Warming.

Other factors:

“In 1957, all the thermometers (the government uses to track temperatures) were moved from fields onto airports,” Wax said. “It went from the Weather Bureau, which supported agriculture, to the Department of Commerce. Cities are hotter. (If you look at the numbers) you’ll see a major climate change in 1957 alone.”

About oversimplification:

In “An Inconvenient Truth” Gore suggests the hurricane season in 2005 that produced Katrina and Rita was directly attributable to man’s effect on the global environment.

Wax believes that’s an oversimplification.

“It’s not magic and it’s not anything that’s never happened before,” he said.

Global Warming Comes to Mars & Neptune

Guess Mars and Neptune are now feeling the effects of Global Warming.

What about that good ole sunshine anyway? It surely doesn’t have anything to do with Global Warming.

Those Martians need to get with the carbon neutral program.     I’m mean, c’mon.

Greenpeace Builds Replica of Noah’s Ark

I’m thinking this is just what the movement needs.

Isn’t it a little ironic that they are twisting a Biblical story to further their agenda?

Yeah, the flood didn’t happen because of pollution and poor stewardship of the earth’s natural resources.

I’m sure they’re packing in all of the supplies with mules.
