1. Kristin Wiig – Her Penelope character cracks me up — every single time.
2. Darrell Hammond – I think he’s spot on with his impressions, especially of Bill Clinton.
3. Jimmy Fallon – nothing beats the Fallon in the Cowbell Skit.
4. Will Ferrell – Not a big fan of any of his movies except for Stranger Than Fiction, but how can you not have him in the top five for his Cowbell fame.
5. Chris Farley – All I have to say is: Chippendales with Patrick Swayze and A Van Down By the River.

Need I say more about the trampy Sex and the City movie — aka “the national IQ test for women“?

Have you noticed that the porn industry is a big part of mixed martial arts? Kimbo Slice’s porn sponsor, Tito Ortiz’s girlfriend, porn queen Jenna Jameson, etc.

Don’t look now, but it’s becoming more prime-time every week.

A family in our church gave us three tickets to the Third Day concert last night at First Baptist of Raytown, MO. Rachel, her dad, and I went.

A surprisingly good band from Australia named Revive opened up. Then it was Decemberadio and then Sanctus Real before Third Day.

I thought that Revive was the best of the bands that opened up. I’d never heard of Decemberadio before. Their lead singer was a little more show than substance.  At least that’s how he came across to me.  I was familiar with Sanctus Real.  I’d heard a few of their songs before, decided against buying an album after listening to their other songs.  The most all sound the same.  Revive was more of a style of music that I like — rock worship.

Couple of other cool things:

They had a stage light malfunction that blinded all of us in the stage-right side section of the sanctuary.  About that same time Mack sang all the way up to us.  I shook his hand and he climbed up on the pew in front of us and the guy next to Rachel sang along with him.  That was awesome.  He’s so unassuming, warm and charismatic (in a non-speaking in tongues kinda way).

Mack mentioned having the great BBQ here in Kansas City. According to a post-concert blog post by their lead guitarist Mark Lee, they ate at Jack Stack. No doubt in my mind it’s the best in Kansas City. This endorsement is just another confirmation.

The latter part of the concert, primarily Third Day, brought back lots of memories of my high school days and how gifted musicians — ones that used their talents for the Lord — helped lead me to faith in Christ.  I recalled how I felt standing in the balcony of a David Meece concert in a Baptist church in Wichita, KS in 1990 — the warmth of God’s presence speaking to me about how is love for me is not like anything I could comprehend or earn on my own.  Good times.

So I finally got around to wasting an hour and a half (sans commercials) watching the new  Knight Rider — or should I say Ford Rider.

Sorry, but, um, it’s cheesy and lame.    Stiff acting, gratuitous skin, weak plot, plus all of those other standard bad review descriptors.

I think an Ask-A-Ninja review is in order.

This is totally worthy of a blog post.  You can now watch old (now vintage) episodes of the A-Team on NBC.com.

Watched Happy Feet last night.

I’m sorry, but it was a load of environmentalist, secular crap.

(Let me just say this before you get too worked up: I’m not anti-environment. I’m big on good stewardship of the environment. I’m an Eagle Scout and anyone that knows me knows one of my biggest pet peeves is littering — just ask my kids. However, environmentalism is not my god and the movement is not my religion.)

I digress.

This movie reminded me of the overt, tree-hugging drivel in Ferngully.

Not only that, but nearly every song had some sort of sexual innuendo in it. How about Salt n’ Pepa’s “Let’s talk about Sex” and Boyz II Men’s “I’ll make Love to You.” Oh, yeah — in a kid’s movie.

I also thought it was:

• derogatory to Latinos
• anti-religious/anti-God/anti-religious establishment (e.g. the Elders of the High Council)
• pro-gay (Mumble was just “born that way”)

Add this one to the should-have-never-let-the-kids-watch-it list.

Ugh.

As a parent, I can’t imagine what it must be like watching this train-wreck of a life unfold.   It’s really sad.

The more I go to church, and the more I turn myself over to the process of believing in Jesus and listening to His Word and having Him guide my hand, I feel as though the pressure is off me now.

Looks like New Line Cinema doesn’t want Peter Jackson to do The Hobbit. That’s a bummer.

I feel sorry for her children.
