As an avid Gmail user, I read this article with some interest.

One way to avoid being a victim of this type of hack, is to use Gmail with the https:// URL instead of plain http://.

While there is no explicit option in Gmail’s settings to do this, there are a couple other options you have:

  1. Create a shortcut to https://www.gmail.com and only use that to get to Gmail.
  2. Install Greasemonkey script that will auto-redirect you. One like this.
  3. Or better yet, download Lifehacker’s Better Gmail Firefox extention. It includes a force https:// option.

I use #3.  Options #2 and #3 only work for Faithful Readers who use Firefox.
